Kansas Road Scholar Program for Counties and Cities

The major objective of the Road Scholar Program is to promote a skilled workforce for Kansas local public works agencies. The program provides training to increase knowledge of local road maintenance procedures and improve technical supervisory and managerial skills. Training is provided by Kansas Local Technical Assistance Program,the Kansas Association of Counties, the Kansas Department of Transportation, and others. The Road Scholar Program that meets city requirements has been developed and implemented in 2007.
Complete the application form, attach copies of certificates of attendance for training you have received in the past three years and the application fee.

The Technical Skills Program and the Master Road Scholar Program are monitored by the Kansas Local Technical Assistance Program. The Supervisory Skills
Program is monitored by the Kansas Association of Counties (KAC).
Training is available across Kansas at a reasonable cost. Attendance is tracked and certificates are awarded to county and township participants by the Kansas County Highway Association for program completion and by the APWA Kansas Chapter for city participant. Continuing education is required to maintain the
certificate.
