What We Do

The mission of the Kansas Rural Transit Assistance Program (RTAP) is to improve the mobility of all rural Kansans through quality training and technical assistance to rural and specialized transit providers.

Kansas RTAP has offered services since 1987. We have a variety of services to Kansas rural and specialized transit agencies including a quarterly newsletter, regular training, video and publication lending library and technical assistance.

Kansas RTAP is funded by our partners at the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT).

Kansas Rural Transit Management 101 Handbook
A one-day orientation and update to the Kansas Rural Transit Program was provided as a pre-conference session to the 2010 Kansas Public Transit Association Meeting in Hutchinson, Kansas. This document is the handbook that was distributed at this meeting covering selected topics on the rural transit program.

Coordinating Rural Transit Requires Thinking Outside the Box
